This post is written for the bodybuilder running a simple Deca/Testosterone cycle, but it applies to all bodybuilder running all types of steroids cycles... Additionally, natural bodybuilders can benefit from this knowledge as well... Possessing an understanding of the variables that affect protein assimilation can be helpful in planning a diet... It can also drive home the point that when on an AAS cycle, diet can compound your results... This results in more muscle gains from the same amount of steroids – something that should raise eyebrows on every bodybuilder... Natural bodybuilders require at least 250 grams of protein per day to maintain muscle mass... Three hundred grams is preferable... However, anything approaching and over 400 grams cannot be assimilated by the body, and tends to go to waste... Aside from being “very expensive urine”, excessive protein also places an increased workload on the kidneys which must filter this unused protein... In the off-season, protein grams needn’t be counted to such a precise degree as they are during pre-contest training... You can fluctuate between 300 and 400 grams and you are fine... During the pre-contest dieting cycle, it’s important to carefully measure protein, carb, and fat ratios to ensure the body is able to fuel workouts and maintain existing muscle as fat is burned... Bodybuilders who use steroids, however, have higher assimilation rates than naturals... The larger the cycle, the more protein a man is able to absorb from his daily diet on a daily basis... Greg Kovacs, who stepped on professional bodybuilding stages at 340 pounds (and was very likely not a natural) was easily able to assimilate 550 to 600 grams of protein per day... However, a natural bodybuilder competing as a lightweight at a local show would only be able to assimilate half of that... Just as with natural bodybuilders, protein in the pre-contest phase should be measured closely, along with all other macronutrients... However, in the off-season, all bets are off... You can easily consume 500 grams of protein per day (especially if you’re 220 or over) and assimilate a great deal of it... The stronger your cycle, the higher number of grams you can absorb... In order to make the most from your next steroid cycle, you should measure your protein grams just as you measure the oil that goes into your weekly syringes... You now know that you’re going to get much better results from your AAS cycle if you’re eating 450 grams of protein per day, than you will if you’re consuming onl 250 grams per day... Therefore, when you’re measuring your oil, measure your food as well... Make it just as much of a priority... If you’re expecting to gain ten pounds of muscle from an eight week cycle, it’s important to realize you could be gaining fifteen pounds just as easily, by tossing in an extra two protein shakes each day... It’s a small sacrifice for the new pounds of muscle you will be adding... Good luck, and watch those protein numbers as closely as you watch your injection numbers. ...
