Using Tea or Coffee To Repair A Damaged Liver

For most competitive bodybuilders, the liver is an organ which takes its fair share of abuse... First off, it has its normal functions... Since bodybuilders tend to eat a great deal of food, it’s already doing a lot of work metabolizing everything that goes into your mouth. ..When you toss in the fact that we eat so much protein, you see how much work it’s already doing. Second, over the counter NSAIDs (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen or Tylenol are used by bodybuilders fairly regularly, to combat the effects of heavy training on the body... It seems we’re always nursing a sore knee, bum shoulder, or something of the like... The livers much process these medicines... Third, for users of anabolic steroids, the work the liver must undertake climbs even further. ..All oral steroids and some injectables are very tough on the liver, given their level of toxicity. Especially in long-term users who don’t take breaks, the liver is highly taxed. Fourth, the liver much process any prescription medicine we are taking. From antibiotics to anti-depressants, these medicines are useful, but toxic as well... Coupled with food (particularly high protein), NSAIDs, and steroids, the liver is suddenly working very hard. Fifth, alcoholic beverages, either consumed moderately or in huge doses, place a great deal of strain upon the liver... As you can see, for the average bodybuilder with a few bumps and bruises who enjoys a drink now and then, liver toxicity can quickly become a major issue. While it’s always recommendable to regularly see a doctor and have blood screening done to closely examine liver enzyme levels for accurate measurements of health, the reality is that many trainers – particularly those of young age, good health, and limited financial resources – are going to run to the doctor every six months for blood work... For them, despite the good advice to see a doctor, home remedies are going to be the answer... If that is the case, check out milk thistle for liver health... Also, more commonly and perhaps already in practice, is the use of coffee and tea to boost liver repair... Studies have shown that coffee, administered to patients with liver damage, has been shown to accelerate the healing process... In many cases of alcoholic patients, coffee and tea usage prevented liver damage while their non-coffee consuming counterparts experienced liver problems... It’s not yet known exactly why coffee and tea positively affect liver function... The answer may lie in the fact that coffee contains caffeine, which boosts the immune system and may protect liver receptors from toxicity damage. Further studies will reveal more... In the meantime, see a doctor, use milk thistle, and consider coffee and tea for liver health!

Its even better up the other end! As long as its not a Starbuck's super latte-expresso!
Indeed, until about 1984, the coffee enema procedure was listed in the famous Merck Manual, which is used as a handbook by physicians the world over.

The man who popularized coffee enemas more than any other in modern times was Max Gerson, MD, author of A Cancer Therapy - Results of 50 Cases (1958). Dr. Gerson pioneered nutritional therapy for cancer and other diseases with amazing results. His therapy combined coffee enemas with a special diet, juices and a few other nutritional supplements. The enemas were an integral part of the therapy. He found that to heal his patients of cancer, he had to stop their pain medication, as it damaged their already weak livers. Coffee enemas, up to 6 per day, would stop the pain without a need for drugs. They also enabled the body to absorb and digest tumor tissue and eliminate it safely, an important stumbling block in natural cancer therapies. Dr. Gerson’s method is offered today at several clinics, most of which are in Mexico.

This property of caffeine, when administered rectally, is called a choleretic. A choleretic is a substance that increases bile flow. While other agents classed as choleretics increase bile flow from the liver, most do little to enhance detoxifying enzyme systems, and they do not ensure the passage of bile from the intestines out the rectum. Bile is normally reabsorbed up to 9 or 10 times before working its way out the intestines in feces. Hence the enema.

There are many references how to do it on the web, so I won't post any pictures here!
