If you’ve read many bodybuilding magazines in your day, you are well aware that the workouts completed by many of the bodybuilders are just too much for you to handle. Who in the world can handle 30+ sets for triceps? Chances are you are going to be severely overtrained as a result of that routine. As a result, you know to scale back the training regimen to something your body can handle. Many bodybuilders make the mistake, however, of attempting to follow the diet of professional bodybuilders. Many of these diets call for 400 to 500 grams of protein per day. We’ve all had those meals where we pig out and end up consuming 100 grams of protein, right? However, the idea of doing that several times per day is absolutely preposterous to most of us. Unless, of course, we use steroids. There is something that is never mentioned in magazines, but should be understood by readers. When they say “Basic” routine, they are usually referring to sample routines that work wonderfully for natural, intermediate bodybuilders. When they list their actual routines, they are referring to workouts which could prove useful for bodybuilders who use anabolic steroids. The same applies to nutrition. When consuming steroids in the off-season, your caloric intake can exceed your daily requirements by 500, to even 1000, calories. That’s a lot of calories, to be sure. However, your body will use them. Even as you add body fat, you will add muscle as well. When you use steroids, the receptors in your muscle group respond to the chemicals in the steroids, which leads to more growth. Just as a car needs fuel to drive, muscles need carbohydrates, fats, and particularly proteins, to grow. All of these 3 macronutrients should be consumed in greater amounts when using AAS to make gains. Protein in particular is useful to the “juiced” bodybuilder. For most of us, our kidneys wash away any protein above 250 or 300 grams. For the chemically assisted bodybuilder, 400 to 500 grams are used by the cells, leading to a great deal of growth. Many of there pro-level workouts are marathon workouts. They often involve 75 to 90 minutes of intense training. This can burn hundreds of calories. It should also be noted that these workouts often require the use of anabolic steroids to facilitate recovery. The bottom line is simple. If you are a natural bodybuilder, you need to be out of the gym in an hour or less. You need 2500 to 3500 calories per day to grow, with between 250 and 300 of those being protein grams. It you are using steroids, these numbers change. You can get away with 4000 calories per day. You can train for 90 minutes, five times per week, and still make gains. The rules of natural bodybuilding don’t apply to you. And, the routines of the pros, do. Train and eat intelligently based upon your steroid classification, and you’ll see much better results!
